Trauma Management Through Social Work

Gain an awareness of social work strategies to improve the overall well-being of youth.

Residential-Only Program

In this course, you will learn about the serious trauma that inner city and immigrant youth face in school, home and their communities, and how support from social services assists these youth through crisis and improves their socio-emotional well-being. Through immersive experiences in trauma informed practice, you will learn how to apply your knowledge of social work and youth services to assist youth. You will:

  • Learn social work strategies to improve the overall well-being of youths.
  • Gain an awareness of the impact of trauma on youth , including the connection between the social environment and individual behavior and health.
  • Understand social justice and how to engage youth through advocacy initiatives.
  • Visit non-profit organizations like Safe Center and S.T.R.O.N.G. to better understand the services provided and their positive impact on youth.
