Summer Pre-College Program for High School Students


NYU Winthrop Summer Science Institute

Non-credit course for high school students considering careers in the sciences, medicine and health.

During this intensive in the sciences and medicine, students will engage in high-impact learning, participating in hands-on classes and lab experiments in physics, biology, and biochemistry with Adelphi University professors. Students will also participate in a First Aid and CPR course, earning certification through the American Heart Association.

In partnership with NYU Winthrop Hospital, students will spend three afternoons at the hospital learning from healthcare professionals. In previous years, students have worked with experts from the Department of Radiology, Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care and 

Acute Care Surgery, and Department of Physical Therapy/Sports Medicine. Students will also experience guest lectures on life as a surgeon and physician’s assistant, and how to best prepare for a careers in the health professions.
