Summer Pre-College Program for High School Students

Law and Society

Explore the ins and outs of the legal system.

Sunday, July 9–Saturday, July 22, 2017, Residential-Only Program

Interested in the law and how our legal system works? Do you want to try your hand at advocating for a new law or arguing a case in a mini trial?  Then join Adelphi’s Pre-College Course on law and society this summer!

This course introduces you to the basics of law and society, including various definitions of law, the process of lawmaking, and the organization and role of courts. You will work with other students to understand Constitutional, criminal, and tort law approaches to various social issues. You will discuss ways to influence law outside the courts. You will also learn practical skills like how to protect your rights as a consumer.

During this two week course you will also visit a courtroom and observe court proceedings.
